Within the final Baccalaureate year, there is an extra emphasis to achieve academic results. This is very often at the expense of physical education. However research shows that physical activity when combined with outdoor education enriches children’s lives in fundamental ways. Children who learn in the outdoor classroom have:
- Longer attention spans.
- More creativity.
- Higher levels of self-confidence.
- Higher standardised test scores.
- Greater academic success.
as well as
- Significant improvements in cognitive development, self-discipline, imaginative and creative expression, language skills, and social interactions.
We have established a programme of extra curricular activities that will use the model of the outdoor classroom. These will be weekly two hour sessions. The programme will operate across the autumn, winter and spring terms and include with a weekend activities within the term also.
